Tre Cime, beyond meshs

Real Earth X is known for his meshs of Hawaï and New Zealand. With Dolomiti X, the italian designer is now working on the Trentino South Tyrol ("Trentino-Alto Adie"). Tre Cime is the third scenery after Comelico and Alpago. But Tre Cime has something really special. Did you know that../..

**** That the three peaks themselves are designed as 3D-objects and not as commun meshs ? The montain formations are nothing else than 3D complex polygons models. You might say that this ruins the framerate. It's apparently the opposite ! And on 3D objects, designers have been able to apply far more realistic textures. I was wondering if they managed to deal with 3D object and mesh interconnection but this screen below shows a perfect match ;

Perfect junction between the mesh and the 3D models.

Now some scoops :
Real Earth X is working on a fourth Dolomiti X project ; Auronzo, in the north-east of Tre Cime. But the team, composed of Franck Dainese, Daniele Tona and Dario Bortot,  also want to design the italian-swiss famous peak Cervino (Matterhorn) that is in beta stage.
Cervino project. Probably designed from 3D models as well.

Another project is to work on two regional airports around these montains ; Belluno and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Let's hope that someday, Real EArth X has the sufficient know-how to build the thrilling Bolzano airport... Now that the SIRX 2009 project looks like a dead-end in FSX, these designers can grab a good portion of the cake ! I will just reproach one slight thing ; the coverage of sceneries is usually limited to 20 x 20 km (that's pretty small for a good vfr trip) but obviously, the price is fear ; around 11 € / 13 $. Tre Cime is published by FSAddon and Silver Cloud.

A first building erected

Foronda-X, Vitoria LEVT from the spanish team Akesoft, the new airport in the Basque region, has now a first building, textured and nearly finished.

Things to know about the Enigma B737 project

"Some textures will even outdone a lot of  McPhat's work"

I asked Jordi Blumberg some details about the B737-300 project. Freeware  ? Payware ? Panels ? Liveries ? Here are some answers../.

The B737-300 is a freeware project initially planned for FS9 and that will finally incluse also a FSX native version. The first package might be released in the beginning of july. It will only include the exterior model (with natively high resolution textures), the flight dynamics engine and paints for both platforms.
In august, a first update will be released the board panels ; virtual cockpit for FSX and 2D panel for FS9, with some extra features.
The team is seriously thinking of developing the B737-400 and -500 versions, to respond here to a lof of simmers requests.
Ultimately, new packs will be added ; about a hundred of liveries, new cockpit panels and a custom soundset.
As this is a freeware project, i suppose that the aircraft will be able for some merges.

Miami city and why it looks wonderful

I found this screen on Intersim's forum. How did i miss that three days ago ?

Be careful, i am not shure this screen will represent the final work but it gives a nice idea. Apparently, Intersim wishs to release Miami City in April. But release dates... I usually add three-five weeks to get the right date.

News about SIRX 2009...

SIRX 2009 team has finally posted a message on the Mega project status../.

According to Leonardo Girardi, a final deal has been signed between the Italy Environment department, the SIRX team and the service provider in charge of maps and imagery. Surprisingly, it appears that the initial project was not planned to authorize freeware addons for the flight sim market. The initial project access was restricted to public and governments administration only.
Today, the deal gives clearance to commercialize paywares products in return of expensive royalties. Leonardo explains that a first product is planned for X Plane platform as the framerate is friendly (around 40 FPS/sec). On FSX, right now, considering the high level of technical demand (seasonal textures, autogen, good framerate...), the SIRX project is still in the expectation. Dense areas surrounding airports in Venezia, Genova or Reggio Calabria, for instance, are too much challenging in term of framerate (around 12-20 fps/sec).
The X-Plane version will be available for X Plane 10 as well.
More informations will be available soon. Two websites will be launched, SIRX-X Plane and SIRX-FSX to keep us informed.

If you speak italian, you can fin the original text with more details.

If the team read my post and if they find a mistake, they have priority to send me a comment but i thing i got the whole idea here in this summarize.
